Check of serviceability of a state and replacement of the sensor of fluctuations of a bent shaft (CKF)

The CKF sensor consists of the rotor of pulsations located on the forward pin of a bent shaft and induction touch assembly fixed on the engine near a rotor. ECM/PCM uses information arriving from the CKF sensor for determination of size of change of frequency of rotation (fluctuations of turns) of a bent shaft. If fluctuations exceed the limit of admissible range, the module of management regards it as a signal of emergence of admissions of ignition.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Find the CKF sensor electrical wiring socket on the engine block from a gas-distributing belt (see an accompanying illustration). Track that the ignition key was turned in position of OFF and disunite the socket.

2. Connect an ohmmeter between two external plugs of the socket (not to the central plug). The result of measurement has to lie in the range of 1.6÷3.2 kOhm, otherwise replace the sensor.
3. Serially connect an ohmmeter between the mass of a body and each of external plugs of the socket. If conductivity takes place, replace the sensor.

Replacement

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Uncover heads of cylinders, a pulley of a bent shaft and a cover of a belt of the GRM drive (see Repair of the engine without extraction from the car - the Civic model).
2. Disunite the socket of an electrical wiring of the sensor and turn out a fixing bolt.
3. Installation is made upside-down.
