Removal and installation

The panel of a cowl has the decent weight therefore it is necessary to get support of the assistant.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Cover wings with special overlays or just old blankets for protection them from damage to process of dismantle of a cowl.

2. A marker or a chertilka lead round heads of loopy bolts for a guarantee of correctness of fastening of a cowl at assembly (see an accompanying illustration).

3. Disconnect all cables and wires preventing removal of a cowl.
4. Ask the assistant to take a cowl and turn out fastening bolts to it loopy levels. Remove adjusting washers (if those are provided) and at once put on them back the bolts which should be put in an organized order for the purpose of a guarantee of installation them at assembly strictly on the former places.
5. Remove a cowl.
6. Installation is made upside-down. At installation to the place of an old cowl with the correct arrangement of fixing bolts and adjusting any problems of a washer with its alignment in an aperture of a motive compartment should not arise. If replacement of a cowl is made, it is necessary to make adjustment of its situation.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Adjustment of provision of a cowl in an aperture of a motive compartment is made by shift in the relevant party of loopy levels after weakening of their fixture.
2. For determination of size of shift lead round levels of loops a marker.
3. Weaken fixture and shift loops in the required direction (carry out adjustment without hurrying, in stages, shifting levels of loops gradually for each approach). Again tighten bolts, lower a cowl and check correctness of an arrangement it in an aperture.

4. Updating of the provision (in the vertical and horizontal planes) assemblies of a latch of the lock of a cowl on a basic plate of a radiator can be in case of need executed – the cowl has to be closed densely and fall aflush with the surfaces of wings. For adjustment of the lock lead round heads of bolts of fastening of assembly of a latch a marker or a chertilka, then weaken bolts and displace a latch in the required direction (see an accompanying illustration). Upon completion of adjustment strongly tighten fixing bolts.

5. In conclusion adjust the provision of rubber pillows of a cowl on the radiator support panel (see an accompanying illustration), trying to obtain that the cowl fell into a closed position aflush with wings.

6. Assembly of a latch of the lock of a cowl has to periodically (along with loops – see Service of loops and locks of the car) to be greased with lubricant on a lithium basis in order to avoid jamming and bystry wear.
