Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of an electric motor of the drive of screen wipers

Check of a chain of an electric motor

Before starting performance of check study the corresponding electric circuits (see Schemes of electric connections - the general information). Verification of tension on plugs of the socket is made by approbation by their probe of the grounded lamp sampler. Inclusion of a lamp confirms presence of tension on the plug. If during performance of the checks described below it is not possible to establish a cause of defect, the car should be driven away on car repair shop for fuller diagnostics of system.

If screen wipers work too slowly, first of all check battery charge level (see the Head Routine maintenance). At the serviceable battery remove an electric motor of the drive of screen wipers (see below) and try to move brushes manually, checking freedom of their movement. In case of need make the corresponding repair of drafts and grease axial knots. Establish an electric motor into place, include ignition and again start brushes. If the speed of work of screen wipers after the made corrections did not return to normal, check quality of contact connections of a chain and reliability of fixing of sockets, having paid special attention to a condition of grounding. At a serviceable chain replace an electric motor.

At refusal of activation of screen wipers check a condition of the corresponding safety lock. If a safety lock as it should be, establish a wire crossing point between the plug of grounding of a driving electric motor and mass of the chassis. Repeat check. If now screen wipers begin to function normally, restore reliability of contact knots of grounding. If the motor still does not work, transfer the switch of management of brushes to the mode of the maximum speed (HI) and check presence of tension on the socket of the conducting connected to an electric motor. At correct giving of food. If tension takes place, check the motor by direct connection to the battery by means of the wire crossing point equipped with a safety lock (see an illustration below).

If now the motor functions, check a condition of driving drafts of screen wipers. If the motor is not started, replace it. If tension is absent, check serviceability of giving of food for the built-in control unit. In the presence of tension on the built-in control unit and absence it on the motor check serviceability of functioning of the switch (see Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of understeering switches). If the switch as it should be, most likely failed the built-in control unit.

At refusal of an interval operating mode of screen wipers check a condition of a chain on the site between the switch and the built-in control unit. If conducting as it should be, it is necessary to make diagnostics of the built-in control unit in the conditions of car service.

If brushes stop in that position which they hold at transfer of the switch to position of OFF, check serviceability of giving of food for the terminal switch of an electric motor. Tension has to take place on the corresponding wire of the socket of the motor at the OFF switch translated in situation and the ignition included (ON).

If the stop of brushes occurs only after switching off of ignition, disconnect an electrical wiring from the switch of management of functioning of screen wipers. If now brushes stop, replace the switch. If brushes continue to function, therefore the limit switch of an electric motor is damaged, – replace the motor.

If brushes at a stop do not leave under the line of a cowl, check driving draft for existence of foreign objects under it. If nothing stirs leaving of brushes in parking situation, check an electrical wiring on the site of a chain between the switch and the motor. In the absence of breaks replace the motor.

Replacement of an electric motor

Forward screen wipers

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the lever (lead) of screenwash.
2. Uncover a forward fairing (see the Head Kuzov).
3. Disunite the socket of a driving electric motor.

4. Remove driving assembly of screen wipers from the lower cover of a fairing (see an accompanying illustration).

5. Turn out bolts of fastening of the motor to driving assembly (see an accompanying illustration).

6. Remove the motor.
7. Installation is made upside-down.

Back screen wiper

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a decorative cover of the lever of a back screen wiper for the purpose of ensuring access to a fixing nut. Give a nut and remove the lever from a spindle (see an accompanying illustration).

2. Open a door of a back and remove the panel of an internal upholstery (see the Head Kuzov).
3. Disunite the socket of a driving electric motor.

4. Give bolts of a fixing arm and remove the motor (see an accompanying illustration).

5. Installation is made upside-down.
